Elder Borruru

From last week....Elder Delgado was bit by a dog this week.  What happened is that he taunted a dog with a piece of bread, and then  when i tried to throw the dog a pice of my bread he tried to intercept it.  But the dog bit him first.

(Weston talked about some personal things and asked us not to post last weeks letter)

 2-24-2014

Hi everyone! This week was the beginning of Elder Delgado´s Rabies injections. We had to go to the clinic twice this past week so that he could get his shots.  It takes about 45min.  of our time every visit.
We have had another awesome week with Fernando and Margot.  They came to church!  them and their brother and their 3 year old son Dilan.  They said they loved it, and all of the members want to go with us to visit.  Also, this week we were talking with Margot about the Book of Mormon, and i asked if she thought it was true.  She said that she knew it was true!  I didn't really pay that much attention for the rest of the visit, because i was thinking too much about the inevitable baptism.  I am very very happy.  I haven't been this excited in a long time.

I am really trying hard to find ways to serve.  This week i made breakfast every day for me and my companion, which consisted of a dozen eggs and chocolate oatmeal.  That has had a catastrophic effect on my funds.  Eggs are not cheap.  about 36 cents for each one.  and now it looks like i will be eating oatmeal for breakfast and dinner for the rest of the transfer.  yippee.  I don't like oatmeal like i used to.

But that is about it.  As they say in Spanish "I want you all lots", or les quierro mucho.

Love Elder Borruru
(pronounce that with minimal mouth movement and that is what all of the members here call me.)

Awesome

Well i don't have tons of time so I'm going to have to make this shorter than normal.  that's really short isn't it?  oh well.
This week was one of the best weeks of my mission.  We have been finding really awesome people all over the place.  i love Punta Arenas.  Its just full of really nice really chillax people.  There are still boat loads of crazies though.  But this week we found some normal ones. One of the best people we have found this week is Josefina.  She was a street contact that turned into an hour and a half long lesson.  She has lots of problems, mostly with her old church, Jehovah Witnesses, and she told us her whole life story.  She is absolutely awesome.  In the past 3 lessons that we have had with her she has completed all of her commitments, and not only that she does them multiple times so that she can really understand.  Probably the perfect investigator.

Well cambios were this week and I'm staying.  And so is Elder Delgado.  I love that guy, sometimes it's hard to get along with him but I like him a lot.  He is really loving, the only problem is he has foot fungus and he thinks it is hilarious to touch me with his infected feet.  Not hilarious.  But i think that is the only area where we clash.  We work well as a companionship and I'm looking forward to another cambio.

Well I love you guys lots.  Tell Jessica Randsom that i said hey.

Love,
Elder Borupation ( that's how latinos make fun of English
.  they just throw an "ation" on the end of everything.)
Here are some pictures of some American food that i found last week.

¿¡This is what you call Summer?!

2-3-14

Well this has been a very fun week.  I can't remember half of it, but i feel happy about it.  What did happen this week?......  Ummmm. Oh! me and elder Delgado ran out of money so i had to take out personal money to provide for the two of us.  At first we were on a strict diet of oatmeal,  but after a while of that we got board, and a little too regular.  So we switched to a pan con Chicha-ron diet.  Super rico.
A miracle did happen this week.  We teach a recent convert named Carlos.  He is awesome, he just became an elder and has a dynamite testimony.  But anyways we were teaching him about tithing when his grand daughter walked in.  She listened for the rest of the lesson.  Then once we were done, she ran to her room to go get her book of Mormon that the last elders gave her.  She has been reading a ton. She is only 11 years old but she is super smart.  We talked about the book of Mormon for a while, she told us all of her favorite parts. We were about to finnish with a prayer when the granddaughter, whose name is Judith, invited her mom, who was upstairs to pray with us,  we asked Judith who she wanted to pray.  She asked her mom.  Her mom said one of the most heart felt prayers i have ever heard.  She asked Heavenly Father to soften the heart of her husband, who has custody of Judith, so that Judith can live with her full time.  She started crying.  Well then we left.  Yesterday we went by again to talk to Carlos.  He told us that the day after our visit Judith's dad told her mom that she can have custody.  So now Judith is going to live with Carlos and her mom.  We are going to start teaching them full time now.  Its awesome to see the way prayers are answered.

I love Punta Arenas.  It is super cold and I haven't had feeling in my finger tips for 5 weeks now, but i love it.  The people are way nice and always have time for us.

Well i love all of you guys a ton.  I pray for you all every night.  Be safe.  Have some fun.  Eat some good stuff.  Pray.

Some Love,

Elder Santo Borup

Puerto Natales

 1-27-14

This week was kind of hard.  We were gone two days on intercambios.  Oh but right before we left we went over to a lunch appointment with a member, halfway through her husband started drinking beer, which is normal, but then she started to drink.  I didn't know she drank, so it came as a shock, but the real problem is that she is on anti depressants to.  So within minutes she was acting like a nut.  That was fun.
Puerto Natales was forever away, but the road was really straight, and really pretty.  List of animal life i saw: Flamingos, Ostrich looking things, Fox, Guanaco, a huge eagle looking thing, tons and tons of sheep, and a gigantic cow.  I saw some awesome mountains.  I have pictures, but we are in a super sketchy cyber right now so i don't want to risk my camera.

But anyways, we got  there at about 8 at night.  I worked for about an hour. then we went back to there house.  They don't have a kitchen.  So i starved for the whole time i was there.  Then in the morning i went out again with Elder Sanchez, who is the District Leader, We went to the church to talk with the Branch president.  The guy started screaming at elder Sanchez, about stuff like not making their beds, and not cleaning the windows.  HE is also the landlord. Elder Sanchez then asked if we could give some assignment out to some less actives that day.  He said no.  Then the president asked if elder Sanchez could do stuff on the computer for him.  Elder Sanchez said no, we can't use the computers in the church.  Then the branch president started pacing back and forth, punching walls, and kicking chairs getting mad at everyone in the branch.   I couldn't believe it.  Apparently he is the only worthy priesthood holder in the entire city, and was the only one who could be the BP.  But he has done some really apostate stuff, like make his daughter secretary, and have councilors who smoke and drink.

I am so grateful for having a functioning ward.  We had a meeting with our bishop this week and he gave us a ton of names of less actives that he wants us to visit. all of whom are actively paying their tithing.

I need to finish but i love all of you tons.  The church is true, being a missionary is awesome, and having investigators is the best.

Some amor,
Elder Borup
